Jack
Jack
Jack is my family's eight yr od Mixed Terrier dog. My son Joe was seven when he begged my husband and I for a dog. We searched several places and finally we adopted Jack from the NorthEast Animal Shelter in Salem,Ma. He was nine weeks old and so tiny. The shelter told us he came in that day from Nebraska. When the adoption papers were all singed we took Jack to his new home.
He became comfortable right away. I have never had a dog as a pet,so it was a little bit of a challenge for me. Potty training was the hardest. I made sure he went out side at least three or four times a day and my husband and I would take turns bringing him outside in the middle of the night. Soon he was potty trained and Joe and I would take him to the park.Jack loved exploring the outside, everthing was new to him. He liked to roll around on the grass and sniff every everthing in site.
Jack became a member of our family. I watched him grow from a small puppy with a soft voice, to an adult with a bark as fierce as a Lion's roar. But don't let that voice fool you he is a lovable dog and is just telling us what he wants. Jack is my family's best friend. He stays in Joe's bed until Joe's asleep then he make his way to my husband and I and snuggles with us in our bed and fall asleep so peacefully until the morning.
Jack brings so much joy to our lives. He is always happy to see us when we come home, that his tail is wagging a mile a minute. He loves to ride in the car. If we just say the word car he looks up with those curios eyes and waits for someone to get his leash. Then he jumps right into the car and his fur blows from the wind when he sticks his head out the window.
Our four legged friend is a loving, loyal, protective animal, who can put a smile on anyone's face that meets him.

Grandparents
As the holiday's approach it's the time of year we give thanks and reflect on the years past and look forward to the years ahead. As I reflect on my past I have a lot to be thankful for. I have a loving husband, a smart and handsome son and a loyal and lovable dog. In addition to this I have a wonderful family. My Mom and Dad, two sister's and a brother. Numerous nieces and nephews, brother and sister in laws and a wonderful mother in law. Also lots of loving aunts and uncles and a lot of cousins.
My past would not have guided me to the person I am today. And there are two people that I'm thankful for who loved me and helped me to be this person today. Those two people are my grandparents. Grandparents are the root to everyones past. Grandparents are wonderful people cherish the time you have with them and keep them in your heart when they have past on.
THIS ARTICLE IS DEDICATED TO MY GRANDPARENTS
A great part of my childhood was when my grandparents came to visit. My sisters and brother and I would always be excited to see them. They lived in the same city as us so we were lucky to see them often.
I can remember my mother making Sunday dinner and I would look out my window waiting for my grandparents to arrive. After dinner my grandmother would treat us to a song on the piano. We had a piano in our living room and my family would gather around and listen to her play.
My grandfather,John was a loving grandfather. When he visited he would always give my sisters, brother and I two dollars which I would put in in my bionic woman piggy bank. One thing that stands out in my mind is the fact my grandfather had no teeth. It was difficult for him to eat things especially meat but it was funny to watch him chew. He would chomp on a piece of steak until it lost its flavor.
Another memory I have is when my grandfather would drive us kids around in his white Chevy and he would pretend the car was a fire engine,he would make the sound of a siren.
A favorite memory of my grandmother Marion is she loved to play games. Our dining room table became a pokino table and I remember getting quarters out of my bionic woman piggy bank and try to win the game.
My grandparents had a weak spot for Kelly's Roast Beef,a restaurant at Revere Beach. We would ride to the beach in the Chevy and swim in the ocean and eat roast beef sandwiches. After my grandmother would take any left over bread from the sandwiches and feed them to the seagulls. That was always a special time for me in the summer.
Holidays were special times to spend with my grandparents. My mother would cook a Thanksgiving dinner and they would come over to eat .Christmas was always fun. They would bring a bag full of gifts. One big bag for each of us kids. Another holiday that has a special meaning to me is Halloween. My grandmother would dress up .One year she was a balloon lady, she put a plastic bag around her and filled it up with different color balloons. Her birthday was also on Halloween and my birthday is the day before. I always felt a special connection between us because our birthdays were so close.
My grand father died when I was nineteen. I am thankful for being able to have spent my childhood with him. My grandmother died when I was twenty nine.I am thankful she got to know my husband and is a great grandmother to my son. When I reflect on the past this year, the memories of my grandparents will surround me by looking at my mother's black hair and rosy cheeks the things that make her my grandparents daughter.
